3/4" Thick black ash, (or wood of choice)
26 inches of 5/8" dowel
1 1/4" Kreg Screws: 1/8 lb.
1 1/2" Wood Screws: 1/8 lb.
Compound Miter Saw
Kreg Pocket Hole System
Sand Paper (Grit: 120 and 320)
Step One: Cut The Pieces - Select the black ash or wood of choice
Using 3/4" black ash cut out the pieces as shown above using saws as directed below
Using a Table Saw, first cut the width of side pieces, 10 5/8" x 5" as shown on diagram below
Using a Miter Saw, cut two side pieces using a 20 degree angle, shown above
Drill holes for the dowels on the sides as shown
Using the Kreg Pocket Hole System evenly space 6 holes on each side for mounting the seat slats
Using a Table Saw, cut three pieces for the three seat slats, 11 1/4" x 2"
If desired, rout the child's name on one of the seat slats
Using a Table Saw, cut two pieces for the two arm slats, 12 3/4" x 2"
Using a Table Saw, cut two pieces for the arms, 12 3/4" x 1 3/4" as shown above
Drill holes in one end of each of the arms on center at 3/4" from end, this is for the dowel to pass through
Drill holes on arm slats for screws, see diagram above.
Add Kreg pocket screw holes on bottom brace as shown above
Cut the 5/8" dowel to 12 3/4", you will need two of them
Step Two: Assemble the stool-chair - Select the cut Boards
Make sure that all pieces are sanded,make sure all sharp edges are softened on all surfaces before assembly
Using clamps, screw gun, and Kreg screws, assemble pieces
Use 1 1/2" wood screws to fasten the arm slats to arms
Step Three: Finish the Project - Select the Finishing Materials
Finish sanding all surfaces
Apply satin polyurethane to all surfaces
Use as stool as well as chair
Sit back and admire your creation
